HEALTH
The National Meat Inspection Service, publicly stated that dog meat is “dangerous” as it does not go through proper inspection and could be infected with bacteria, such as Rabies, that pose high health risks in people.
The three main transmittable diseases are Rabies, Cholera, and Trichinellosis. The first and most devastating disease, Rabies, is a viral disease that affects the central nervous system and causes almost certain death. The second is Cholera, a diarrheal sickness caused by a bacterial infection of the intestine. Lastly, Trichinellosis is a disease that comes from animals infected with a microscopic parasite called Trichinella. However, Rabies is still the predominant disease in the Philippines and poses the highest risk.
