The illegal dog meat trade puts dogs under several forms of abuse and maltreatment. Roughly 40,000 dogs in the Philippines are being traded each year for consumption. These dogs are transported and distributed to Baguio and Benguet. The process of capturing and containing these dogs includes being muzzled and having their feet tied, once the dogs are muzzled and tied, they are then piled up in trucks and covered with a thick sheet of fabric. Majority of these dogs die upon arrival due to suffocation. These gruesome details and many more, show and prove the vile and harsh treatment dogs get just to be traded and consumed. REPORT SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY
Report any of the following suspicious activity to the officials:
- Unloading or loading large amounts of dogs, sacks, or anything of the sort.
- Individuals or restaurants offering dog meat or dog meat based dishes.
- Unjust and unsolicited capture/entrapment/restraining of dogs.
- Signs of animal abuse or cruelty.
